Create Retro Covers with Pulp-O-Mizer

April24

Want to uncover the thrilling tales of the downright unusual? Or how about stepping into the mysterious world of the weird future?  If you have these uncontrollable urges, you can satisfy them and more by delving into Pulp-O-Mizer, a fabulous web resource for generating retro pulp magazine covers. Yep, get all early nineteen-hundreds by mimicking the inexpensive publications that blanketed newsstands in just about every popular fictional genre of the time by turning your students loose with this super cool tool.

So, how does one create a vintage-looking pulp fiction cover? Well, surf on over to the Pulp-O-Mizer web site and let the good old fashioned fun begin. That’s right! You can customize text, fonts, backgrounds and images to your heart’s content! And before long, you’ll have a combination of sensational titles and awe-inspiring imagery that will impress pulp fiction fanatics everywhere!

When you’re done with your design, images can be saved to the computer and then used on blogs, wikis, web sites and/or anything else you would like to create. If you think your pulp fiction cover is really hip, you can also order a print version of your project for use on coffee mugs, posters, iPad cases, notebooks, cards, invitations and flyers.

Check out a Pulp-O-Mizer example one of my Multimedia students created about the upcoming Junior-Senior Prom.

BTW—If you’re not familiar with the whole pulp fiction concept, explore some background info here.
