Photo Peach: Fresh Slideshows to Go!

March13

Photo Peach is an incredibly easy web-based slideshow generator that can be utilized to develop multimedia presentations at any grade level and in any content area.  After creating an account, developing a slideshow really is a simple as 1)uploading pictures from your computer or network resources; 2) arranging the pictures in a logical sequence; and 3) adding captions to explain/describe the images used. Incorporating music is optional.

One of my most favorite features of Photo Peach is the quiz function. To better explain how this options works, check out the interactive “Bell Ringer” I created for a Chapter Review on Ancient Egypt.

For additional Photo Peach examples and tutorials, visit the following sites:

“Peaches” (a.k.a. Photo Peach slideshows) can be downloaded and saved for future use and/or they can be shared via a wiki, blog (as shown above) and/or other social networking sites.

Classroom Connection:

Not only can teachers use Photo Peach to create digital stories to introduce, teach and/or review concepts, but this strategy can be used for a variety of project-based assessments. More importantly, students can demonstrate their understanding of skills acquired during a lesson or unit while having the opportunity to imagine, plan, design, compose and invent—skills crucial to 21st Century learning!

Additionally, the quiz function provides teachers with the opportunity to create activities that involve a variety of instructional strategies: Bell ringers, anticipation guides and exit tickets to name a few. Photo Peach quizzes can also be utilized for formative assessment purposes. Better yet: Have students create quizzes as a culminating activity to a chapter and/or unit. Then share with classmates as a review prior to a test.

On a simpler note, use Photo Peach to highlight a class project, activity and/or field trip.
