Cool Tools for the 21st Century Classroom

Around the World with Science360

The Science360 Knowledge Network immerses users in the latest wonders of science, technology, engineering and math.  This super cool site gathers the latest science videos provided by scientists, colleges and universities, science and engineering centers and the National Science Foundation to engage science junkies in cutting-edge discoveries and big science stories of the day.  What’s more—each video can be embedded into websites, blogs and social networking pages.  How ‘bout that for a customized digital textbook!

Want fingertip access and sharing for breaking science news in video and spectacular high-resolution images?  Then be sure to check out Science360 for the iPad.

Both the Science360 web site and app feature videos in the following categories: Astronomy & Space, Earth & Environment, Life Science, Math, Physics, Technology & Engineering and more!  Science360 also provides a number of video series that showcase the latest wonders of science, engineering, technology and math (i.e. Changing Planet; Science of NHL Hockey).

One of my favorite Science360 videos—Fighting Crime with Math:

Classroom Connection:

» Before: Graphic organizers to teach key vocabular; KWL Charts; Anticipation Guides; Fact or Myth activities; Knowledge Ranking Scales

» After: Writing and/or discussion activities; Additional research on topic

» Extension Activities:  Pamphlets, posters, foldables, skits
