Guanajuato: A Video Montage
The old cliche “saving the best for last” proved to be a more than a true statement in terms of describing our last day at the Salvatierra prepa.
To begin with, our hosts treated us to a student and faculty assembly showcasing a variety of extra-curricular activities including music, dancing and drama to name a few. This expo was a fabulous display of talent as well as Mexican culture. Equally impressive was how proud and excited everyone involved was to share this event with us.
A huge part of this day was also spent filming and photographing the teachers, students and grounds of the prepa. This media was then used to develop a video montage highlighting everyday life in Salvatierra—one that will be used as a public relations and recruitment tool. This mashup will also be used to show the B-A community what school and students are like in another culture. Afterall, one of the goals of this international exchange program is to promote diversity while eliminating stereotypes—especially those that have been inaccurately created about the majority of the people living in Mexico.
Of course, as an instructional technology coach, producing this video was one of my favorite activities. Having the opportunity to collaborate with the folks at the prepa to produce a video that can be useful for people living in two different countries was a really neat experience. Check out the finished product shown below.
A special thanks to the following people for making this day a very unforgettable one: Cukis, Alberto, Ramon, Loreley, Rocio, Javier, Isaac and the students of the Salvatierra prepa. ♥
