Cool Tools for the 21st Century Classroom

Go with Gooru: Mobile Science & Math Resources

February28

One of my very first Edutech for Teachers posts focused on the use of Gooru, a service whose mission is to provide teachers and students with a variety of multimedia resources—videos, diagrams, interactive displays, documents and quizzes—related to middle and high school science and math topics.

Yep, by creating a Gooru account, one has access to over 50,000 resources categorized into a variety of subject areas: earth science, biology, chemistry, geometry, and algebra to name a few. Once a topic is selected, Gooru provides the user with a list of materials according to media type (digital text, interactive games, images, video, etc.) that can be integrated into lessons, activities and/or projects. Students can also create Gooru accounts to find study materials and/or practice assessments on the topics they are learning in class.

But wait—there’s more Gooru goodness! Uh, huh—you guessed it. There’s an app for that! Uh, huh—same cool content but now students can access over 3,000 science and math teacher-reviewed resources on the iPad. That’s right! Interactive learning and studying on-the-go has never been easier.

Stay tuned… More subjects are coming to Gooru very soon!

Classroom Connection:

Use the Gooru web resource and/or the iPad app to increase student engagement and motivation to learn by connecting subject matter with multimedia rich 21st Century resources and real life applications.
